Wellspring Gathering Registration is $60 for ADF Members
which includes all activities from Thursday, 5/27 to Monday, 5/31/04.
Membership Card Required for Members Price.
Non ADF Members must pay $75, and will be asked to fill out an ADF Membership form.
$15 of your registration will be paid to ADF National for your first years membership dues.
Any special consideration or anticipated problems should be
addressed to: AJ and Shawn.
Call AJ during reasonable hours at: 216.289.6663
Might cause me not to go. We'll have to see. I'll know better when I get back from DMF. I really think that $75 is absolutely ridiculous, and forcing people to join ADF is even worse.

*shakes head* sheesh
If this is what we have to pay, and they can't deliver on quality, I'm voting to move the membership meeting to the West Coast next year.
That should cut back attendance if that is what they are trying to do. *shrugs* If I were not a member and wanted to check things out I would not go. That constitutes an obligation that I might not be prepared for...
Yep. I can't imagine that that's what they're trying to do, but that'll be the effect, I'm afraid.
Umm. I'm not sure what I did with my membership card ... Guess I better look for it.
And --- Does this mean that PSA ppl are going to have probs? Grrrr.
Does this mean that PSA ppl are going to have probs?
Dunno. I'm looking for clarification right now.
However, I will be very amused if they lose, what, 5? people because they want to force people to join ADF.
If everyone were charged $60, that would be $300 down the drain if all PSA members didn't go.
And I'd laugh, because right now, I'm feeling particularly mean.
Catch ya in an hour and a half.
Wow, that is totally obnoxious. The joining part, I mean. Is this some ploy to boost membership, or a ploy to keep non-members away? If Shawn ever answers my last email, I'll ask.
At most Brushwood events, there is an option to camp without attending the event. If not, they are usually listed as "no other camping." (I think I've only seen that for Starwood). Sometimes the camping fee does go up; at Sirius Rising I think it is $13.50 a day (to help cover other costs, like port-a-thingie rentals and printing costs).
Yeah, I'm waiting for him to answer my email, too.
For Wellspring, it appears that the cost of "just camping" is going to be $10/night.
Article I, section 2:
2) Since one of the primary duties of the ancient Druids was to lead their tribes in magical and religious activities, A.D.F. advocates and practices, as an integral part of our faith, open, inclusionary, and public ceremonies to worship the Earth Mother and the Old Gods and Goddesses, rites of passage to mark the cycles of our lives, and magical rituals to accomplish our other goals in an honest and ethical manner.
So, yes. That seems to read that all rites are public (even rites of passage) which is a very literal reading of the by-law. I wouldn't say that such is the intent of the by-law, but that is what it says.
I checked on the national meeting, and here's Article X, Section 9:
9) On those occasions when the Mother Grove is meeting with a majority of the Directors physically present in one location, such meetings shall be open to attendance by any voting members who may happen to be in the vicinity, unless matters of extreme delicacy or personal privacy may be involved, or in the case of a spiritual retreat being held by the Mother Grove. When Mother Grove meetings are being held via electronic communications devices, the Archdruid may invite one or more individuals, whether voting members or not, to attend as guests.
So that indicates that the meeting doesn't need to be open to Non-Members.
This looks more and more complicated.
I think the price is totally bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!
Wellspring only has a few workshops, and the past two years there was only one ritual (that I recal). The only reason I go to Wellspring is to network, I don't go for the two - three poorly scheduled workshops.
Summerland and Elysium had much more to offer, in my opinion, than does Wellspring.
If the event is the NATIONAL meeting then it should encourage as many ADF members and potential members to attend.
I spend just over $300 for two of us to go to Pagan Spirit Gathering. What do I get? A community of 900 plus people, over 10+ workshops to choose from each day, at least one ritual per day (many times more), musicians/bands EVERY night, sometimes more than one, and many many other features. Last year there were 90+ vendors.
Wellspring had, I think, one vendor last year.
This price is wrong. Someone needs to tell the Mother Grove.
Well, they did add another day, which would justify the $10 increase. Camping is $10/night, so after sleeping on it, I'm very much okay with the increase there.
I'm awaiting clarification from StoneCreed about the Non-Member's price before I make a big deal about this on Leadership. As I leave tomorrow for DMF, though, I might just need to mention it to people out there, if I don't get clarification today.
Ooh, I like long, drama-filled stories!
I'm definitely going, of course, despite my questioning statements yesterday about re-evaluating it. Jenni's getting her Dedicant Priest ordination, and there are people I want to rub shoulders with (either 'cuz their hot, 'cuz they're big-wigs, or 'cuz they're friends).
But if no response is forthcoming from StoneCreed, I'll be talking down in AZ with some people about it.
I found out about a week ago that I can't make it to Wellspring because of some scheduling conflicts here at home; however, after reading this, I'm glad I'm not going. The way they have this set up is terrible.
I'm still hoping that it's a big typo. But I have the fear that it isn't.
So I guess this means I need to get someone else to wear the schoolgirl outfit?
Nuts. I was really looking forward to that.
