11:04 am - I just got back from Easton. . .
And boy are my arms tired. . .

Anyway, here's what happened:

Last night, I was chatting with beautycorrosion about Tina's current state of wellness/mobility/etc. She mentioned something about chocolates, and that set me off to go looking.

Tina's favourite chocolates are dark chocolate raspberry truffles from Godiva. It has been this way since our ex-roommate, Elizabeth, proclaimed them "better than sex." Tina tried them and agreed (we will temporarily ignore what this agreement means for the sake of my ego).

So I hit up Godiva's website, searching for a box of these truffles. I expected, of course, to pay about $38 for 24 of them. Problem is, they only offer assorted truffle boxes.

So I get on the phone. I call a local store and ask if they have any boxes of raspberry truffles or if they can box them up for me.

"Usually we don't do that," the lady on the other end of the line says, "but did you hear about our sale tomorrow?"

My ears perked up at this. "Sale?" I asked.

"Yes," she said. "All our truffles are 50% off."

I was silent for a moment. Was this a trick?

"Really?" I asked, not actually hoping to believe.

"Yes. And we box them all up for the customers. How many are you thinking?"

"Um, how many do you have?" I asked, completely unprepared for this.

There was a quiet moment on the other end. "Um, probably enough for a box and a half."

"Wow." I paused for a moment. "How much would that run?"

"Well, regularly they're about $38, so 50% of that."

"I'll definitely be by tomorrow," I said, and went to hang up.

"Wait!" she excalimed, remembering something. "They go fast, so you might want to get here early."

"How early?"

"We open at 10 AM."

"I'll be there. Look for the man with the bells." I hung up the phone.

I asked my co-workers about taking a very early lunch, and they were more than happy to oblige.

This morning, I left the house and got into work. Tina hadn't been feeling well this morning, and I didn't really want to leave, but I did.

At 9:35 AM, I jumped out of my chair and ran down to my car. I pulled out, hopping on the interstate to get across town to Easton, where the box of truffles awaited.

I walked through their doors at 10 AM on the dot, and grabbed the box of raspberry. It was ready for me.

I paid the nice lady behind the counter and checked my watch. I was ahead of schedule. I might as well deliver them now.

I swung by my house, leaving the car running. I bounded up the walk, and rang my doorbell. Tina answered a minute later.

My presence confused her. She couldn't figure out why I was there. Then the gold box came to light, and she was further confused. Why would I have a box of truffles? Why wasn't I at work? Something didn't add up.

However, she quickly got over the confusion and didn't ask any questions. She accepted the box, and back to work I went, grabbing a sandwich on the way.

It was a good morning.

It's not every day you get to satisfy your girlfriend on your lunchbreak. . .

Meh, I've had Godiva. Not my favorite; I prefer a sweeter chocolate. That was sweet of you to do, though.

I'm not a big fan of it either, but the woman is. I learned a long time ago not to argue with girlfriends.
