05:32 pm - Taking my name in vain
This experiment has two parts:

1) If my name were a curse, what would it do? How would it curse a person? Enter this into the comments, please.

2) Use my name in vain. Curse someone with it. Then report back to me, and post this in your journal, if you feel so inclined. . .

(fyi, that can be one comment, if you're really dexterous with your curses.)

It would be an interesting side-effect if it was related :)

I think it could work two ways (ie you first name or your last name).

Mike you sounds a bit odd, so I think i'd stick with go to Mike. Dangler is a great word so I would be a tuch more colorful with it. You Son of a Dangler.

I wonder what Mike is like? Full of fire and pain, or just boring?

I tink it's more of a threat. Like you just wait till your father gets home. If someone is being particularly naught you tell them ot go to mike. he'll show them!

Good ol' Fotemecus :) Ever worked with him? Damn fun.

Rather than banish harems, would it steal a harem?

Well, we'll just have to use your real name, as it has more potential for cursing in the vulgar sense. I daresay one could even use it as a rude verb, such as "Mike Off!" Or my personal variation, "Go Dangle Yourself..." hehehehehe

Chronarchy lends itself more to the Shakespearian involved sort of cursing that takes more effort, such as "Thou mayest experience chronarchy in all its fury, and thou wouldst only whimper in fear."

My cubemates here at work are wondering what I'm snickering at...

exactly. You don't know whether it's suicide by hanging or instructions on revealing the naughty bits at the local park.

Hm.

Being a mom, I frequently use names as curses (or, as I like to call them, brief motivational speeches). Example:

Catherine Clare Costello, get out of the dog water! (What makes this slightly more interesting is that only occassionally will I remember the right name for the right child.)

I like this experiment and will give it a try at work today.

By the Powers of Michael, may your Dangler drop off!
