|12:36 pm - Dreams of Elder Gods|
I had a dream the other night.
Or I think it was a dream.
I awoke in the middle of the night. The door to my room was open, and I could see out of it. The hallway was lit with yellow light, but between myself and the source of that light was a figure.
No, it was a mass of tentacles and a pair of red eyes.
No light fell upon the creature. It stood, staring at me. The tentacles moved in the still air. Flashes of the creatures body appeared and disappeared, and I caught a glimpse of the armour it wore. They were five-pointed stars overlaid in a mesh, some looking like deformed starfish.
Beyond my door stood Cthulhu, his gaze burning into me. The fear of the Elder Gods washed over me, and I sat, shivering and mezmerized by the eyes that held me.
I broke the fear with a thought, and called out to Esus.
From beside my bed I grabbed my axe, and I hurled it at the Priest of the Elder Gods.
It struck, and I blacked out.
I awoke the next morning, and remembered the dream. I fully convinced myself that it was a dream.
Upon stepping into the hall, though, I found two things.
First, my axe lying on the floor.
Second, under a chair nearby, a broken starfish of some dull yellow metal I couldn't place, broken as if struck by something.
Do not wake the dreamers in R'leyh, for they will find you.

So, what did Tina say when she saw you had thrown your ax into the hallway? It didn't wake her?
Oh, I was in an antarctic compound on an archeological dig.
The whole thing took place in the dream, including the waking up part.
Or so I assume.
(however, there is occasionally an axe by my bed.)
You sure that wasn't a silver star? (as in the one you've been wanting for Deputy Preceptor...)
Positive. It was definitely a yellowish metal.
Hm. It sounds like Cthulhu likes you. My condolences.
Thanks. I'm huddled in a corner of my office now, hoping to avoid his dreaming eye. . .
Here's a thought. If you don't want to be huddling in fear of Cthulhu, DON'T DO A RITUAL WHERE YOU SUMMON HIM. Or is that too difficult? ;)
No. It's boring!
