06:44 pm - Because I can. . .
You know, I turn 25 on Friday.

Usually, I don't ask for anything. Usually, I avoid my birthday. In fact, I tend to dislike it.

But I turn 25 this year. Therefore, I have decided that celebration might be in order, what with me being a full quarter of a century old.

And what with the fact that I don't plan to celebrate another birthday until I turn 100, I thought this was as good a time as any to celebrate one.

For those interested in helping to make my birthday happy, feel free. I won't complain this year as I have in the past, promise.

I'll even link you to my Amazon.Com Wish List. You know. For convenience.

As far as why I usually don't like birthdays? I don't like people feeling the need to get me stuff. I don't mind receiving things, or having people buy me stuff, but I mind that people feel that they MUST buy me things because it's my birthday, or because I graduated, or because it's Christmas. Really, I hate all the gift giving holidays for just this reason.

So if you get me something, do it because you want to, not out of some misplaced obligation. It'll mean a lot more to me. And it'll mean a lot to me if you just don't get me anything simply because you don't want to. That's the point, after all.

What will I do to actually celebrate?

Shit, I don't know. Got any ideas?

Whatever I do, though, you'll all be invited.

Watch this journal. When I figure something out, you'll know.

Unless I get lazy and forget.

with age comes bitchiness

And I'm supposed to help you celebrate... um, the fact that you're NOT less than half my age? That you should now move from the ridiculously high 18-25 age/male bracket for auto insurance? (You do know that is the last milemarker you get to celebrate until you qualify for a Golden Buckeye Card at age 50, don't you?) That from here on out you lie about your age by pretending to be younger, rather than older than you really are? That you haven't yet been devoured by one or another entities of chaos despite your overt attempts to do so?

Hmmm... my choices currently are that I could (A) attempt to kidnap our SD and haul him off to a strip joint [shudder]; or (B) go have free food and drinks at the firm's annual golf outing like I've been planning for weeks. [yawn]

Let's just hope someone comes up with option (C) before tomorrow evening...

Gee, thanks. Now when February comes around I can joyously lie about being younger.

Well, I've been told I look younger than 24, so I guess I'm not worried. My mom could pass for 45 and she's 52.

As for celebratin' stuff ... Ehm, I can't think of anything. I'm not much good for that ... All I can think of is Hound Dogs and Outland.
