06:44 pm - Because I can. . .
You know, I turn 25 on Friday.

Usually, I don't ask for anything. Usually, I avoid my birthday. In fact, I tend to dislike it.

But I turn 25 this year. Therefore, I have decided that celebration might be in order, what with me being a full quarter of a century old.

And what with the fact that I don't plan to celebrate another birthday until I turn 100, I thought this was as good a time as any to celebrate one.

For those interested in helping to make my birthday happy, feel free. I won't complain this year as I have in the past, promise.

I'll even link you to my Amazon.Com Wish List. You know. For convenience.

As far as why I usually don't like birthdays? I don't like people feeling the need to get me stuff. I don't mind receiving things, or having people buy me stuff, but I mind that people feel that they MUST buy me things because it's my birthday, or because I graduated, or because it's Christmas. Really, I hate all the gift giving holidays for just this reason.

So if you get me something, do it because you want to, not out of some misplaced obligation. It'll mean a lot more to me. And it'll mean a lot to me if you just don't get me anything simply because you don't want to. That's the point, after all.

What will I do to actually celebrate?

Shit, I don't know. Got any ideas?

Whatever I do, though, you'll all be invited.

Watch this journal. When I figure something out, you'll know.

Unless I get lazy and forget.

happy birthday, you. (oughtn't you be doused in mass amounts of glitter as part of the traditional birthday festivities? i think yes.)

it's strange... when i got up this morning, i found schmendrick perched on my desk, browsing some amazon wishlist with one of my credit cards under his paw. when he saw me coming, though, he quickly tabbed back to some kitty porn site, so i didn't get a good look at whatever it was he'd had up before. sheesh. cats these days.
