03:56 pm - A Fotamecus Experience:
On Sept. 6, 2004, on my way home from Chicago, I began a chant of "fotamecus, fotamecus, fotamecus. . ." I was calling on the servitor who distorts and compresses time when it will help us.

It's 3 hours from Indianapolis to Columbus: exactly 180 miles. I exited Indianapolis driving at 65 miles per hour. The time was 6 PM.

I arrived in Columbus at 8 PM, and my speed did not exceed 65 mph.

Yes, I suppose it does sound almost exactly like the original essay. However, in my defense I wasn't exactly trying to do anything new with the servitor. I was just utilizing him in the way presented.

I suspect that the essay has a lot to do with the uses I perceive for him: had the original essay been about making a cake bake faster, I would apply Fotamecus to baking, rather than to road trips, and this post (written a long time ago and just not uploaded until today) would probably have been about a really good carrot cake that I needed to finish before my girlfriend's birthday party.

Damnit, now I'm going to have to try that, aren't I? Who wants carrot cake?
