|11:58 am - Office quotes. . .|
The ADF Office (and us office elves) sometimes get the best emails. One of my favourite quotes ever comes from back in August of 2004:
"Thank you for creating such an informative and interesting site - it must have taken hours to research and put together."
Because, you know, the ADF website only took about two hours to throw together, but I guess we did about ten hours of research beforehand. . .
The quote really needs to go on a T-Shirt for Anthony.
Current Mood: amused
Current Music: "I Heard I Was In Town", -JB
Were they serious, or was that a slap in the face? Sometimes I can't tell when people are being sarcastic on the web.
Ya, it may have taken him only two hours to do, but he was slacking...[grin]
Well, you have to take it as a compliment because person at least bothered to thank you for whatever time you actually did take.
However, being a computer programmer myself, it is sometimes amazing how folks either overestimate or underestimate the process of building software. It never seems to fail that you get huge credit for making a small change to your software and people never seem to notice the improvements that you spend weeks of 12 hours days working towards. I once believed the greatest accolades came from work that improved the user interface or added new features to software. Now, I really can't claim to have any insight into what improvements users will value most.
Now, I really can't claim to have any insight into what improvements users will value most.
I feel much the same about the website I work on.
I also can't explain why some people find menu bars & some people don't.
I got a message the other day from the Fusion
website saying something like, "This is a nice site but I don't agree with parts of it."
Which parts, I wonder? That we go to OSU? That we're a GLBT student group? Or that the URL for PFLAG is www.pflag.org?
LOL... If they only knew *smiles*
Ya... Anthony'd get a hoot out of that.
