|02:32 pm - Do you think my kid can get time off for good behavior?|
Last week, I visited my kid in the slammer.
What's that? You didn't know I had a kid? Well, there's a reason for that: I never did, outside of my boys (and the girl), until Tina and I had Christmas.
Tina made me a daddy for Christmas, adopting one of these from the Columbus Zoo. (S)he's a Matschie's Tree Kangaroo, and (s)he's been one of my favourite things to visit at the zoo for years, ever since I first saw him/her.
Of course, usually I'm only privledged to see the back half. I mean, if you had the chance to moon thousands of people every day, you'd do that, too, wouldn't you?
I don't have a picture of my kid yet, so I did a quick Google Image Search to help you get an idea of what (s)he looks like.
I keep saying "(s)he" because I'm unaware of which MTK I've adopted at the moment. I visited the other night, and I was told that the Zoo has two of them, one male and one female. The girl is Kia, and the boy is AJ (short for Almond Joy).
So now I need to go to the Zoo more. I've never had a kid in the slammer. This is a new development for me. I suspect that frequent visits are expected of me, as I'm obviously a proud new father.
I just can't help but think that I should have rased him/her better than to get into trouble like that. . . I mean, in jail? My kid? *sighs* My poor heart!

You do what you can
You love them, feed them healthy food, teach them manners, raise them knowing a loving Eris and then off the go to the tree tops meet other Matschie's Tree Kangaroos and all your hard work is for naught.

Re: You do what you can
I know. It's like Aneris has sunk her claws into them. It's a real shame. Ah, well, it's the best you can do, you know.
We should throw you a baby shower. *grins*
What sort of gifts can you give at a baby shower for someone who's got a MTK, though?
I'm curious to have one just to see what I'd get!
I would send you fruit and maybe a kong ball, a favorite of many in the zoo/slammer, and probably a big poop shovel. How old are they? I worked at the zoo in 1998 in the medical records dept. Not that I remember every animal with a hang nail . . . I remember reading about lots of puss and special diets.
