|08:55 am - Some good news|
Well, ADF is obviously doing something right.
We just topped 900 members. We've been growing quite a bit since June/July, I think. Or thereabouts.
Here's hoping that we'll be able to bring them the quality services and training they're looking for.

You can create something like this by creating a page called DedicantBuddies in the Wiki
and then inviting people who want to pair up to list themselves on the page, and people who want to pair with those listed, to put their names next to someone.

If I was willing or able to devote the effort yeah. Okay that sounds bad.
I have a habit of taking on too much and then getting burnt out on everything. I have a disabled son, which requires alot of advocacy, therapy, and just plain extensive parenting work. Then there's the support and advocacy volunteering I do for children & families with his disability. I have trouble even making grove functions given family committments (I can't begin to even explain the sheer commitment & effort parenting my child requires -- down to I can't just hire a babysitter off the street for him, nor can I just bring him with me somewhere & expect to participate beyond being bodily present). I've been a member of ADF for almost a year and grove members I talk to online still aren't sure which person I am -- I am that spotty with attendance & not for lack of trying. Anyways I digress.
I guess I was suggesting something officially organized that I and other dedicants could participate in. But I wasn't volunteering to take on organizing it.

No, that sounds fine, actually. You've got your hands full and you know it, and you're wise enough to be careful about taking anything else on. Your family is lucky to have you!

Well, I don't know how organized this needs to be; IMO the Dedicants can self-organize this, since it's just willing people partnering with other willing people. I'll create a Wiki page and see if that helps, but it might not be necessary; it might be better if people just post to the Dedicants list when they're looking for a buddy.
This is the sort of thing that is hard to find the "sweet spot" in terms of the right amount of structure; it's easy to under-structure it so that nothing comes of it, or over-structure it so it dies from micro-management. I can see why you wanted to keep your hands off of managing it, and hopefully you can see why I wanted to keep mine off too :)

Yes I can understand the balancing act needed in something like this. Well I was gonna say maybe asking on the dedicants email group to see if people liked the idea .... but you did that already. :-) Thanks.
Oh and thanks for understanding. Not everyone does -- which is probably why I came off sorta defensive.
