|01:29 pm - Maps!|
I spent my lunch hour building this map today for ADF.
I have several more maps done (some have seen them), and I'll be uploading them to the ADF site shortly. Here's a sample I did last weekend:
Current Mood: artistic
Current Music: "Peanut Butter Conspiracy", -JB
Do you think that map of groves is high quality enough to go there? The only real issue with it is that it wouldn't get automatically updated with the database, which means that ever new Grove, Protogrove, or upgrade would have to be done by hand.
Not a major issue in itself, but I worry that either I'll forget or I'll just get too busy and it'll fall behind.
I'll chat a bit with Anthony about that. I have some ideas to send his way, anyway.

I think the map is fine--no reason it shouldn't be utilized in this way. I wouldn't worry about remembing to update it--I doubt you'll be the only one who has to keep an eye on it.
I fired an email to Anthony about this. I suppose that updating it once in a great while wouldn't be hard, but the last time I updated this map was back, um, in 2002. You can find it here:http://www.chronarchy.com/images/adf-maps/groves-pgs-map-05.28.02.gif
It'd have to be kept up with some regularity to avoid having something that stagnant on the webpage. I remember that my biggest criticism of the website back in about 2002 was that it was so damn stagnant. Hell, I think it was Imbolc 1999 until about August 2001 :)
Actually, you could probably toy with PHP's various image manipulation capabilities and get the map updated along with the rest of the grove page. It would probably be a lot of trouble, depending on how often ADF gets a new grove/protogrove.
Good point. I think we get a new PG, or a PG upgrades to Grove, about once every month or two.
We'll have to look into that :)
