The hat makes you look kind of Indiana Jonesish.
Thank you :) Note the quote from Indy above in the comments. . .
It is an officially licensed Indiana Jones fedora.
Such a great hat. And I can honestly say it's saved my life!
That's a story I'd enjoy hearing.
In the back woods of Tennesee (or was it North Carolina? No, according to the map it was just before entering NC, so I was still in Tenn.), I was walking up Hump Mountain from Doll Flats.
I was thinking about something or other, all alone out in the woods. I came across a point where the path required me to keep my eyes on the ground (there were wet rocks and mud all over the palce at this point), so I carefully picked my way through the rocks and holes and across a small streem that was running down the mountain.
At one point, though, I looked up to survey the trail ahead.
As my head came up, the brim of my hat caught a huge broken branch that was hanging exactly eye-level with me. My momentum carried me forward into the branch with a lot of force.
Because the branch had caught the brim of the hat, my wide-open eye was met with wool felt instead of the sharpness of the broken-off branch. It re-distributed the force of the branch and left me with an eye that was only hurting a bit, instead of an eye that was no longer viable.
I was only 6 miles from the nearest road at that point, but if the branch had entered my eye, getting off that mountain would have been a very good trick.
The hat saved my life.
Wow ... and completely appropriate for an officially licensed Indian Jones fedora.
