I don't need the garb myself. I wear it, in general, because when I'm standing in front of a bunch of people who are expecting to have a ritual led by a Druid, I want to look something like what they think a Druid should look. It's one less thing to distract them from a ritual mindset.
So robes, to me, are not part of my movement toward an altered state, but part of moving the Grove to that state.
I like white robes
. My old one
was really nice.
Personally, whenever attending any ADF event when I see people wearing clothing they do not wear everyday (or clothing they wear every day but in a nicer version) I just cannot get into it, I just feel like I am at a ren fair or a fantasy convention.
I guess, I just think that if someone can wear a tie-dyed robe with Celtic knot-work on it to a festival ... well, yeah.
It is nice if it works for people. If that is what they have to do, more power to them. It just does not do it for me.
Yeah, it's definitely a personal choice with robes or no robes.
Here's hoping we can get some hottie skyclad chics!
