10:53 am - A daunting task. . .
I admit, I am somewhat afraid to look at my friends pages. I suspect I will do that after work today.

I'm looking forward to a good lunch at the Union, I think, where I will edit the piece I wrote for Oak Leaves. I'm currently somewhat unhappy with it, but it'll do, I think.

BTW, if you're working on something for OL, please get it in before Jan 1, 2006. I'm tired of seeing my crap in there. Flood the Chronicler with submissions so my name doesn't need to appear. My work is crap, anyway!

And fred_smith, good to hear you're alive.

Not that I think it will be done by then, but I'm going to start work soon on a guide for security at public rituals. If it's not too long, I was thinking of submitting it to OL.

Length is something that can be worked with. chirael's article in the last issue was superlong-crazy and it made it in. And let's not forget the interviews that took up so much space in recent issues.

That's true, his article WAS excessive. Took me three days to finish (or maybe minutes). I was actually planning on discussing that with him tonight.

I strongly suspect that it only happened because we were running low on otherwise good content.

And judging by the reaction so far, I'd rather it not have made it in. It was written late last year to explain some of the things going through my head when I was deciding whether to run for Scribe (now Secretary).

When it hadn't been published by May, I guess I just assumed it was deemed "not really suitable for OL" and silently discarded, which would really have been for the better.

I certainly didn't expect it to pop up over a year later, when so much of it is outdated! Oh well, at least one person found it interesting and not so offensive. Of course, coming from "incendiary Dan" I'm not sure that's exactly a compliment ;)

Several of the things I submitted about a year ago also have made it into recent editions of OL. . . I strongly suspect that it's due to a lack of submissions (not even a lack of "good" submissions)
