11:27 am - Fuck Firefox, I'm going back to a reliable browser
I'm giving up on Firefox. It just deleted all my bookmarks, won't let me re-import them, and won't let me bookmark anything.

So, fuck the fox.

I'll see it in hell.

Back to my far more reliable Mozilla Firebird v. 0.7. It never gave me *any* problems.

Good thing I didn't delete it. . . or worse: install over it.

*edit: Apparently, Firefox doesn't come with an uninstaller. . . And the regular "add-remove programs" in Windows doesn't uninstall it. My opinion of Firefox just hit rock bottom.

If I ever said anything good about Firefox, I take it back. All of it.

Yes, I'm thinking he might need to update to the latest version.

Then I recommend Opera, unless you enjoy leaving your system open to be raped by any cracker who passes by and realizes that you're using IE.

I'm running Firebird right now. It's a Mozilla browser, but an older generation.

Sounds like I'm hearkening back to a golden age of Mozilla. Maybe I am. :)

A guy on IRC just said this: (kats): i thought firefox ate my bookmarks but actually it just stuck them 2 folders deep for no reason but to annoy me

That's still never happened to me, probably because I make proper sacrifices to the Firefox.

Re: Firefox

The latest. I tried the built-in update feature, and got "no new versions". So either it was lying (wouldn't put it past it at this point), or I was, indeed, running the latest.

Re: Firefox

Sorry Mike, but as an IT support person I've always hated that answer, "the latest", because most often the person answering doesn't realize that there's a version (or two or three) later than the one they have. Plus there are usually multiple major versions being supported simultaneously, with minor releases of the old major version coming out before or after releases of the new major version. (Considering your job you should know this stuff! :-)

The latest version is 1.5, which was just released at the end of November, while the last 1.0.x release, 1.0.7, was at the end of September. Did upgrade Firefox in the last few weeks? It does help to know the exact release you're using.

How secure is Maxthon compared with regular IE?

No idea. Don't even know what Maxthon is. (I'm a Linux guy first, and only do Windows when necessary for work.)

Re: Firefox

Download was last week.

I've already deleted the installer and deleted the program, so I've no way to check that. Other than to say I downloaded it last week. Which means that I was very likly to have the 1.5 release, I imagine, if that was released over a week ago.

And yeah, I know that updates come and go, which is why I checked before I uninstalled and said, "To hell with it."

Mozilla's history of applying new builds nightly has lead me to check to make sure that the "latest" is today's latest, not yesterday's. I don't know if they've been doing that with Firefox so much as they were with Firebird and the other old Mozilla browsers, but there was, at the very top of the browser, a nifty little update feature that I also used this morning which automagically checks for updates. Nothin' doin' there, either.

All I can honestly say is that the versions matched, when I went to download, it informed me that I was downloading a file of the same title, and that's about it.

I don't honestly remember the precise version number. 1.5 sounds familiar.

But I will not, emphatically speaking, go back to Firefox in the near future. I'm still dealing with the uninstallation fallout, and it's royally pissing me off.
