|03:24 pm - Festivals in 2006|
It looks like I'm planning on the following festivals this year:
Pantheacon (royally tentative right now)
Trillium: The ADF Spring Gathering, April 20-23, 2006
Desert Magic Festival, May 4-7, 2006. I'm still very much considering a long hike in the mountains before this festival. Maybe after? Who knows.
3CG festival?, very tentative, but the dates set aside are May 19-21, or maybe June 9-11, or maybe none at all
The Wellspring Gathering: the ADF National Meeting, May 25-29, 2006 (dates in question) (tentative, but likely, though my Magic 8 Ball tells me I shouldn't go)
The Starwood Festival July 18-24, 2006 (dates in question) (tentative, though the Magic 8 Ball says, when I ask if I should go, "It is Decidedly So")
The Summerland Gathering, Aug. 25-27 (dates in question)
Burning Man, Aug. 28-Sept. 4, 2006 (tentative, but a strong leaning toward, and my Magic 8 Ball says "Outlook Good")
Three Realms: A Pacific Druid Festival, Oct. 12-15 (dates in question) (tentative and very much dependant on scheduling, and my 8 Ball says "Highly Doubtful")
Of course, there's also Walking With Fire: An Eastern Indo-European Conference, but the dates and location on that became somewhat sketchy recently. . . though I have it on good authority that it'll go forward.
I'd also love to attend Fall Fest, but getting there is just so damn difficult, since I'm not allowed vacation around that time, and flying in is so damn difficult (as I discovered last year when I tried to make it).
Current Mood: busy
Current Music: "Volcano", -JB
You're going to Starwood and Burning Man with me-- the Magic 8 Ball said so!! And yeah, I have to get Walking With Fire together.
The 8 Ball is never wrong.
It can't be. It's a ball.
Of course you're going to Starwood. My birthday is smack dab in the middle of it and the Universe has decreed that no one shall be in town during my birthday. It's a recurring theme for about the past decade, so you'd be inviting the wrath of something or other if you were to remain in town.
Starwood holds a certain level of attraction and a certain level of, "no-freakin'-way" to it. It's really one of those festivals that isn't my kind of scene, but with shizukagozen
going, it may be tolerable (and even fun).
Yeah, I understand about the twin attraction/repulsion forces at work with Starwood. Fortunately, I don't have to even worry about it since it is also smack dab in the middle of summer quarter and I've resolved to never travel during classes.
I would like to go, and added it. I forgot about it, as I often forget that there is a west coast. But give it's timing and my cashflow, well, it's unlikely at best.
Part of it. But Three Realms also has the same issue that Fall Fest does: it's right at the beginning of Fall Quarter here at OSU, and vacation at that time is limited. So the final date greatly influences the chance that I can go.
But yeah, flying across the country to one festival is difficult enough. To two, three, or four starts to add up pretty big.
Likewise, I wish I could go to Wellspring, but it doesn't look like it's going to be happening.

I've never met him, but I'm looking forward to it!

If you go to Pantheacon, we'll get to meet, as that's the only item on your list that I'm definitely attending. Pantheacon is a blast - about half my kindred do all the program ops for the convention.
Issac is coming this year, and as I understand it, there's supposed to be an ADF unity rite.
Me? Unify with these weirdos? You've got to be kidding me!
Actually, the chance to meet a few people from my f-list (you included) would be primary motivation for attending.

We may be weirdos, but we're your kind of weirdos. :-)
Don't you forget it!
I distinctly remember you saying something within the last few months about easing up on your festival schedule in 2006. Perhaps it's a matter of perspective -- *this* is a lighter schedule?!?!
Heh. One can't have everything they want.
I'd like to go to at least Trillium and Wellspring.
Trillium is always well worth it. I wouldn't be going to Wellspring if last year hadn't been so much fun.
I'm sad I missed out on it. But it was for a good cause :)
