|07:21 pm - Holy crap, I'm published in the UK!|
So today I was alerted to the fact that I have been quoted in a UK newspaper, The Guardian, on freakin' page Two, in some section called "Today on the Web." Thanks, castlerigger, for pointing that out to me.
I admit, initially, I didn't believe it. I mean, hell: who cares what I have to say, especially about the Winter Olympics? There are many more qualified people out there to talk about them (not to mention people who actually like them), and besides, who would ever believe that someone across the pond would be interested in what I have to say about anything? I couldn't (and still can't) find an online version of it, either.
But castlerigger gave me the quote and the page number, and so I went about calling various establishments until I found someone who could get me a copy.
So I drove out to Lane Avenue to pick a up my very own copy of the February 20, 2006, Guardian, printed out at a local bookstore.
And Wow. There I am. In print. In the freakin' UK. A place I've never been physically. And I'm sitting in my car, staring at page two, laughing.
This has got to be the most amusing thing that has ever happened to me.
I'm still laughing. I called my parents and told them about it, and they got a real kick out of it. I've been commanded to bring the clipping home, of course, to show them.
Who knew my opinion was so valuable? And here I thought I was just bitchin' about the Olympics. . .
Current Mood: amused
Current Music: "Blue Guitar", -JB
I keep meaning to go there. The people who own it apparently used to own the Little Professor Book Co., which has the honor of being the bookstore that introduced me to paganism.
Yes, it rocked. I discovered Drawing Down the Moon there (the 1st pagan book I ever read) and bought my first Tarot deck there.
