10:21 am - Beginning again
I have never really thought of Samonios as the beginning of a new year. Sure, we like to talk about it that way here in Paganism, and occasionally, you'll see "new years resolutions" float around various Pagan lists or LJs, but I've always seen these as just generally being silly ways of being rather. . . "in your face" about Paganism—as if we're obligated to do something just because we think we ought to advertise our faith.

But today, on November 1, 2006, I feel that sort of change. I look at my life and see the new beginnings before me.

I don't think that I was expecting that. These feelings are odd to me.

As I work and re-work the next update for Chronarchy.Com (coming soon, this website not yet rated), I find myself concentrating on the words on the index page, the page that will tell people what I've been up to, what I'm doing, and where I'm going. Several radical changes have been made to that page over the past three weeks, and it's still not right.

I think that I'll keep working for a bit longer.

The omens from 3CG's Samhain rite were these:

Dagaz: a new day.

Kenaz: the torches in the hall.

Isa: continue, keep working, watch for danger, don't stagnate.

These posts will eventually decryptify, I promise. I just. . . need to make sense in my head before I can make sense in cyberspace.

It's more important that you have a grasp of things. No worries about things being cryptic.

Yes, well, we all know how good you are at creating gossip! So, there should be enough lying around without chronarchy needing to add to it :-)

Crazily enough, I feel the exact same way today. I like the notion of it being a 'new' year, and it makes sense astronomically to me. But as far as conventional society sees it, it's just another day of classes and work, and nothing really HAS changed in my life situation. Yet something inside has changed. Makes even less sense than it made yesterday.

I spontaneously drew omens in the dark last night, resolving not to look at them until this morning, and the three runes I drew in sequential order were Hagalaz, Nyd, and Uruz. The three faerie cards I drew were Gowtchya (represents the shocking but necessary collapse of The World As We Know It), Nelys the Alchemyst (represents irrevocable internal change), and the Pook (represents the sudden dawn of understanding and order amid dizzying confusion and difficult truths.) Not to be outdone, Homer said, "Go. You have a way, and beside the sea your ships," with the Christians helpfully adding, "Regarding life and safety." And finally, continuing the theme of "hey! watch out!", Buffett adds "Better watch my step! If the floor caves in, I'll go right straight to hell."

Wow. What's going ON today?!

hey was wondering if you were aware of this....

Eris/discordia rewritten

I think today/yesterday being the new year and all is an internal thing...

as for readings, I am doing mine today once I get home..
I will pull the runes fronm my Ancestor's altar and see what they have to share..

Today is Dia De Los Muertos .... so it is fitting I think

No, I wasn't aware of it. It is rather. . . interesting. I'm curious to pick up a copy now. After using the "view a random page" button several times, I'm disappointed in the content (it really is a total repackaging with nothing new, but in a pulpy, ugly binding), but want to make a full review of it before saying anything too bad.

But yeah: no new content at all. And I recognize immediately where the art they used came from: most of it is on my computer.

I woke up this morning and made some decisions and have started implementing changes to my life. It didn't even click about the 'pagan new year' until I read your post.
I'm certainly working on new beginnings today myself.

Even before I was Pagan, it always seemed odd to me that the New Year didn't start in the Fall. January 1st always struck me as an artificial New Year's Day. The Jewish New Year starts in the Fall, near the Equinox, but since I wasn't raised Jewish, I recognize Samhain as the start of my New Year.

Good luck in reconfiguring your life. It's always an...entertaining...process.
