10:58 am - Traveling, dinner, and adding in more training to ADF
"Gods do not, generally, have a lot to say, but what they do say is worth listening to."
     -Phil Hine, Pseudonomicon
Last night's Feast of Saint Barbara went well: I managed not only to cook enough food for everyone but also to do it in a timely manner. Tina, Maggie, tesinth, and singingwren all joined me for dinner, and I think I managed to get enough things that people liked that everyone ate their fill.

Of course, I cooked things I can't pronounce (or spell), but that's what makes it an adventure.

It appears that the ADF Initiate Program will be up and running in the very near future. . . I'm excited to see how this program is received by the general membership. We'll have a bare-bones study guide up and available as well as all the courses. It's just pending a confirmation of approval from the ADF Council of Lore.

Oh, and Greece. . . I have my itinerary set (April 6-14, 2007), I just have to make sure it happens right in my office. . . There's some conflicting vacation to work out between myself and a co-worker, but I don't think it's major. Then I need to find a cheap flight. . . At the moment, things aren't looking too promising on that front.

*nods* I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to make the train connections from Athens to Litochoro on my own, not speaking Greek at all, but I'm fairly confident that I can make it. I mean, I know to carry a Greek phrasebook this time around :)

I don't think that my ability to quote:

Go tell the Spartans, thou that passest by,
That here, obedient to their laws, we lie.

in Greek will get me directions.

There are train connections from Athens to Litochoro you have ot make on your own? I'm meeting you at the airport silly. We're going up together. :)

*does a little monkey dance, a rehearsal for meeting you at the terminal*

Oooh. I wasn't worried about not making it, I admit. I have a tendency to believe it'll all work out.

But I won't mind at all not having to make those connections on my own :)

The monkey dance of doooooom!

I don't know how we're getting there yet. There is a train from Athens to outside Litochoro, and then a bus from that station into town. I just do not know a.) the times or b.) how to get to the proper Athens station from the airport.

But yes, it'll all work out. If not, I speak Greek. And by I speak Greek I mean I don't know a single word.

Maybe we'll just have to try and navigate by trying out combinations of phrases in the phrasebook and various historical phrases I have memorized in Greek and seeing where those take us?

Imagine me with my phrasebook, asking people (in Greek)

"Excuse me. . . a wall of wood alone shall be uncaptured, a boon to you and your children."

"How much is a cheeseburger, and in exchange, must all through the whole Laconian country mourn for the loss of a king, descendant of great Heracles."

"We require a room for the night, also the dragon, earthborn, in craftiness coming behind thee."

I think this is one of your best ideas ever, it belongs in the top ten. It needs to be done.

Then it shall. Most certainly, for black blood drips from the highest rooftops.

You're presuming I can manage to pronounce it correctly :)
