No need to apologize for being awesome (of course, that's a qualified awesome, as we both know it's impossible to be as awesome as Mazi).

Indeed, we do know this impossibility.

Wouldn't a horse-drawn pillbox run the risk of shooting the horse up the bottom?

Entirely possible. I admit my first thought was, "What happens if someone shoots the horse?"

I hadn't thought of friendly fire.

Then again, shooting the horse in the ass is hardly "friendly"

I dare say that the horse would agree.

What happens if someone shoots the horse?

Rapid acceleration, I would assume? Or deceleration, depending on what they were shooting with and where it hit.

Perhaps the unfriendliest of all fires.

He doesn't show the hitch, but I'd assume the business end of would be pointing back, away from the poor beast pulling it. That's as I've seen other such vehicles anyway.

It's unfortunate, I forgot to draw that on. Now, I can't honestly remember which way it faced, but your deduction is probably correct.

An ideal configuration would be to hitch the horse to it, run it out onto the battlefield, and then turn the whole thing around, thus hopefully shielding the horse a bit while it's unhitched.

And shielding the horse as you re-hitch in order to be dragged another 100m away from the front lines when the enemy approaches.

Horse drawn pillbox?

(And indeed, Mazi's the most awesome anywhere)

Yeah. There are dumb ideas in warfare, but this one was particularly head-scratchy.
