|04:14 pm - New office|
I entered my new office this morning, and took a picture of it (because everyone needs to have a picture of their office, right?)
My new desk
But the best part, of course, is not what the desk looks like (the clutter that's on it is work left over from my predecessor, who did all he could to ensure that he didn't leave work unfinished, but was just overwhelmed. . . only the white mug and the blue pen are mine), or the old-school pencil sharpener, or the bookshelves, or even the window, but rather what else this office comes with:
A real door that I can close!
Eventually, this office will look more like it's "mine," but until then, I have a lot of paperwork to go through and finish/fix.
Current Location: Southeast of Disorder

Does this mean promotion?
I cannot wait to see you tomorrow. Yay!
Not exactly. I'm actually doing the same job. Just working a lot harder at it, and picking up additional responsibilities. I can better explain it in person (some more info below, though).

What's the new position?
Where's the new office? Still 5th floor?
That looks like a mirror image of my old 4th-floor office.
And yay for pencil sharpener and door.

Come to think of it, I wonder if you replaced the guy I worked next door to.
450 Baker. I'm "replacing" Chuck, who has mentioned you fondly several times during the transition.
I say "replacing" because we have no CIO, thus I cannot officially replace him. It's temporary/interim at best.
Unless I do well. In which case, I may actually replace someone, rather than just "replace" him.

Yup, that's what I thought. I was in 452.
Good luck on removing the quotes!
Thanks. Btw, love the icon.

Thanks. When the stadium renovations started and the Lantern printed photos of the scoreboard going down (a scoreboard I remembered them first putting up when I was a kid), the middle photo looked so unusual that I had to save it.

Welcome to the world of us bureaucrats-with-doors, although yours has a frickin' window, damn! Oh well, at least mine's bigger (insert obvious jokes here), and has lady_bell
in it at some points throughout the week. :)
I admit, the "view" in your office is clearly better than the view in mine. . .
If you stay in an office long enough - it will be burned into your brain years later. I can still put myself to sleep remembering all of the offices that I had over my years of working. The best one was next to the men's room. I worked at the FED - aka big money temple in D.C., with marble walls, etc. Sound travels so well through marble.
Worst was the Rabbit Warren at the Watergate, yes that Watergate aka Break in Place by Nixon's bag men. The place was hot yellow and hot pink walls. With battleship blue for cubbies. The Warren was just that. Nobody could find anyone else, nor give coherent directions.
Enough about me - your place looks nice.
Thanks. I hope to clean it up and maybe make it look nicer. Once I have a key :)
Ok, your office is much smaller than my "office," but heck, you have a window!! That's prime real estate, buddy! Did you ever see pics of my room after I painted?
(You should be here long enough to meet some of the kiddos... they would SOOOOO fall all over you.)
*grins* One day, perhaps I'll have time to look out my window. . . :)
I did see the pics, I recall :)
I <3 your new office. Do you need toys?
I may, eventually. :) The work place requires toys, I think. But we shall see, since I have a new CIO to impress soon. . .
Bwahaha, I have an office with a door I can shut too! Mine's better than yours, though, because it contain things like giant wicker baskets of plastic eggs and posters of MEATLOAF on the wall!
I also have this bizarre, unnecesarily fancy old-timey chair.. it's a wheely office chair, but it's shaped sort of like a high-backed, small-armed arm chair with this amazing floral pattern on it. Ohhhh man.
I also have a banana yellow button-down shirt now... yeah, that's gonna look hot on me. -_-
A banana needs a shirt just like that :)
Wait: If an Anna Banana wears a banana-colourd shirt, is she, in fact, wearing a nude-coloured shirt?
Are you going to work naked again?
*eyes you suspiciously*
btw every time you post with that icon I think you're Asael
Yeah, but mine looks better. It's got Summer Fun Cthulhu in it.
Cool Bro! Congrats!
I wish I had an office with a door. I've shown you my cube though, but even if I got promoted and someone left I would probably still be sharing an office with someone, and the way we're hiring people there won't be much room for that either. At least I get really good views if I stand up and walk around.
Thanks. I think your view is better than mine, though. Mine is pretty. . . simple. I can see a power plant.
Maybe I should get some binoculars. . .
A door and a window, I am lead to believe, are pretty cool things to have. Good luck with the new responsibilities.
Yeah, so I hear. I think that I should find some way to make solid use of them.
An office with a door can be a dangerous thing, depending on how you use it. And my oh my, but that looks like a right sturdy desk too...
Indeed, it is quite sturdy. Good, old construction.
You know, the papers would look marvelous, swept off with an arm while replacing them with something else on the desk. . .
See, that's what I was thinking too. Funny how we seem to be on the same page there...
