I spoke this prayer as I was doing a ritual the other night. I wanted to post it, too.

Let the light of a mother's love
   never diminish in a child's heart.
Let the light of a mother's love
   never diminish in a child's eyes.
Let the light of a mother's love
   never diminish in a child's memory.
Let nothing come between mother and child,
and let the child always know the mother.

It is a lovely prayer. However, sometimes the child's truly knowing the mother IS what comes between mother and child. And sometimes that's for the best.
