11:10 am - No nuclear reactors: Check.
Software is not designed, licensed or intended for use in the design, construction, operation or maintenance of any nuclear facility and Sun and its licensors disclaim any express or implied warranty of fitness for such uses.

It astounds me the things that people put in their license agreements sometimes. It also makes me wonder what event prompted the inclusion of such a phrase. . .

Wow, two posts about work in one day: It's like Christmas for people who want to know what I do for a living wage, except there's no baby Jesus involved.

The event was probably lawyers saying "do you want to be held responsible for another Three Mile Island?"

I'm sure there's something in there about life-support or other medical equipment as well.

Most of the software I use goes even further -- it disclaims any warranty or fitness for use at all.

Nope, they say, "Here's some free code. Do what you want with it. Maybe it's useful, maybe not, but don't sue us if it doesn't do what you expect."

The irony is that quite often it works better than the stuff you pay for, mostly because "do what you want with it" includes improving it and contributing those improvements back.
