Dawn breaks over the sea
looking down from Olympus
Journal Entry 17

04/05/07
12:51 PM
Olympus, dawn to dusk

Here in the sun, gazing down Olympus to Litichoro and the sea far below, gazing down the same paths Far-Seeing Zeus gazed down from his throne. After six hours of hiking from the parking lot at Prionia, through occasional 2.5 foot deep snow drifts, I am in love with this mountain. The winds and the air and the sunlight all are simply amazing.

And here I sit, my offering to Zeus beside me, knowing that I need to offer for his favour. The weather is only part of it. There is also the fact that cortigiana nor I fell and died.

Now, it's six hours down, so it's time to offer and head back down.

First snow encounter | How deep is it? | It's Mazi-crotch deep!

Vampire goats! | See him staring? | A bird at the shelter
We saw some wildlife, and even a Yeti! I swear!

That's because I wrote the entry last freakin' year and am only now getting to post the darn thing :)

I noticed that, too, but didn't have a chance to correct it once I proofed the thing after posting it.

And hell yeah, we should do it again sometime.

Next time, I'm packing SuperYeti Repellent. . .

It has been over a year now hasn't it? Wow.

Yes, because my new name is just that much more sexy.

We should go on more trips.

You should trademark the SuperYeti Repellent. We should also make a map of Olympus which shows where Greece is... back there.

Indeed. According to Yeti Science, Olympus is not in Greece. And I am from Los Angeles. Where the movie stars are.

I wonder if Yeti Science is anything like Intelligent Design "theory"?

And my gods, his teeth!

Why the hell didn't we get a picture with the SuperYeti?

Two comments with the word "Indeed", I think this should be our word of the day that involves hot make-out sessions and ice cream.

You totally are from LA. Although the rumours I hear about that place is everyone is short so you may have to trim a few inches. ;)

Yeti Science sounds like an awesome thing to get a degree in. It makes me want to hunt down a Yeti museum and dress in an ape suit.

He had teeth? I was more disgusted by the back and shoulder hair.

We should have gotten a picture, I think we were just too dumbfounded by both him and the guys telling us how Jesus defeated the Olympian gods in hand-to-hand combat!

Hell yeah! Indeed, indeed, indeed!

I'm planning on writing another entry that isn't just journal entries, that includes a number of the pictures I took but haven't posted yet, and that will include a lot of things like the conversations we had on Olympus, zylch being kidnapped by monks, and fun things like that.\

Now I just need the time to write *that* too!

Slobber slobber.

I think you need to learn the art of cloning. Cloning serves all your needs and solves all your problems! Cloning can give you more time, cloning can get you into the mad scientists club, cloning can make julienne fries!

I have perfected it, though it took over 2000 attempts at cloning ferrelux to get what I have now, and the rejects are sitting in jars in the closet.

You must have an amazingly huge closet!

I totally need a card that indicates I'm part of the mad scientists club!

No, they're just very tiny jars.

Almost everyone needs such a card. Almost.

Indeed. Almost.

Wow, we're really hittin' the magical words today, huh?

That is because we are magic!

Now where is my ice cream?

*waggles fingers prestidigeously*

Um, presto?

Prestidigeously is one of the best words ever.

Luckily I have ice cream like things in my freezer: one does not have a six year old child and not have frozen treats in the hot and humid Japanese summer.

Are you coming for Christmas? Turns out ferrelux has a mandatory vacation then.

Maggie and I are discussing it in depth, but with her quitting her job (a very recent development), we may not be able to. I just looked at plane tickets to Tokushima on Monday, trying to come up with a budget for the trip. Looks like a bit over $2000 for each of us, which isn't bad I suppose (the Tokushima leg seems to nearly double the price, though, as Tokyo is half as expensive to fly to), but, you know, stuff.

We also may have to be in Kansas at that time: a relative died, and I may be needed to help with the estate, which puts a serious crimp in the plans.

So, right now, we're doing our best. The best outcome is "hell yeah!" I'm still hoping to shout that instead of, "Oh, Yay: Kansas."
