|11:13 am - No DMF for me this year|
Due to a wide variety of things, including my recent promotion (and subsequent OMGNowWTFDoWeDoWeNeedToStartNOW moment regarding a project I've been trying to get started for six months now), I will not be able to attend Desert Magic this year. This is generally okay, as I had already decided not to go, but somewhat disappointing, as I really enjoy the festival, and had intended to go as early as Jan. 1 of this year.
So, if you were hoping to see me, I'm afraid I won't be able to make it to that one.
I'll send along something for the auction, though, even though I can't make it.

The money from auctions is usually the primary source of income for some festivals: the money most often goes to the Grove that sponsors the festival. These are important because most Groves come very close to "break even" on the festival fees, and the auction can turn the event into a money-maker, which ensures that it will be around the following year.
At Summerland, the auction goes to 6th Night and Three Cranes, split down the middle, after we've taken 10% off the top to send to ADF (or so I recall it happening. . . I'm not too involved in the money side of Summerland right now). After Hurricane Katrina, the 10% went to ADF-Cares for relief efforts.
I believe at DMF, all the proceeds go to SSG, though I could be mistaken. I don't recall them saying that they were donating any of it.
OK, I will get the large wooden bowl mailed to Kirk or someone and even if it only brings a few bucks, maybe that few bucks will help a wee bit. I will try to get the address and mail it out this week.
Thanks so much!
Thanks I will do that and will send a block of bees wax with it to keep it polished (I never varnish wood, especially bowls).
I'll get it mailed out this week.
