11:59 pm - Writing of dawn before she dawned upon my mind. . .
It occurred to me, moments ago, that I had written a story (inspired by a Grateful Dead lyric I heard when Jimmy Buffett covered "Uncle John's Band") about the beauty of the dawn, long before I had ever kindled a fire at dawn and called out to Usas in prayer:

The Crow's Story

One day, I'd like to find an illustrator and turn it into a children's book. It's probably one of my favourite things that I've ever written.

Hmmm, I wonder if we could reuse any of the story boards from "Nicholas and the Magic Uterus"? :)

Whoa, I remember that! Unfortunately, I think I deleted all the pictures from my phone...

Not to worry:

I'm all about posterity. Or something.

Truly lovely

That was just beautiful.

Yes, it should definitely be a children's book. And I may know an illustrator (well, really an artist...)

Re: Truly lovely

Re: Truly lovely

I'll see if she's interested :)

You can see her stuff online here http://www.delightsfantasyart.com. She's already done some stuff in one book (I'll see if I can find a link)

Re: Truly lovely

'Cause you don't already know any of those.... (errr... not that I have an abundance of free time. But I might be stuck in bed for a really long time recouping from knee surgery, in which case I'll need *something* to do)

Actually, there's quite a bit of similarity between your very cool little story & a native American myth I ran across while researching my Mythic Birds print suite. I don't remember which tribe & all the info I had was on the computer that died but it was the story of the Rainbow Crow. Like yours, Crow originally had beautiful colorful plumage that gets burned black. But in the Rainbow Crow story, Crow's plumage is burned while he's stealing a coal from the Sun in order to bring fire to the people.

I really like your story, too.

So I have this friend - I know, go figure, I have a friend :)

She is quite the artist...

I think the two of you should talk about that book you want to do
