|10:09 am - Seeing what I do and wondering how I ever get that stuff done. . .|
It's true what they say: you never quite realize how much stuff you do until you try and list it or report it.
I've recently started keeping track of what I do (administratively, only) as Clergy Council Preceptor. Most of the information wouldn't interest anyone, but I renewed my commitment to getting timely quarterly reports out (since my report affects other reports), even though I'm not required to file one, really, per the Org. Still, it has been entertaining to see what I've done since Samhain. And that list is only administrava that doesn't actually affect most people, and it's the kind of stuff no one should care about, really. . . except the individuals I may be reviewing, and even they get their own e-mail updates, so they probably wouldn't care, either.
About the only thing on there that's of any interest to anyone, organizationally, is that I cast a vote on the Artisan's Guild Study Program. But come report time, I can box it all up nicely and hand it off to the AD and the Preceptor for their reports, which is convenient for everyone.
The idea for this grew out of a similar page that I set up to reduce the "curtain" that some perceive between the Clergy Council Officers and the rest of ADF. At least, that's the political answer. Really, it's just there to communicate the process that individuals are going through, where they are in it, and what to do if they aren't where they think they should be.
I've found myself better able to organize where we are in any given process by keeping these pages up-to-date (or close to that), and if they increase transparency, that's just peachy. . . but accidental, in all honesty.
I've often thought that, if the Mother Grove were to blog about their discussions, the blog would look almost exactly like the log I have above: the information there is about as detailed as it can be, honestly, and it actually covers about 90% of what the CC Officers are discussing or doing at any given time. . . it's odd to me that I appear to be the most active of officers, but that's a virtue of the office I hold, not a virtue of me as a person: the CC Preceptor will always be the officer doing the largest amount of "stuff."
Anyway, as I was updating the page this morning, I these are the sort of things I thought of. Crazy.

Oh, yeah: it's just an accident of the office, not insinuating that anyone else is "less active" as a result.
Besides, I think that the key phrase is that I "appear to be the most active". . . not that I actually am, but I have a lot of stuff that leaves a trail :)
Thanks. I've actually spent a lot of time tailoring it to me, though, truth be told. But I've spent a lot of time in the Preceptor business in ADF (actually, at this point I may have done it longer than anyone, even romandruid
. . . I don't know if she's still reviewing stuff or not!), and so I've had a lot of time to sort of shape and build it in ways that make me look like I know what I'm doing :)
But I would be remiss if I didn't say that the only real reason I look like I know what I'm doing is that the people around me are competent and creative. I owe far more to the Dedicants, Initiates, and other students of ADF than they will ever owe me ;)
