Anyway, I've got about two and a half days of Buffett music that I can listen to, which is kind of nice: it's good stuff, and relaxing to listen to. I have rare stuff and common stuff (probably way too much common stuff; I prefer the stuff that isn't "top billing" in his shows), things from out-of-print discs, and stuff from before he hit the beach. It's kind of strange, really, to have all this music by one person. It's probably a bit creepy to some folks, actually.
For a while, it was somewhat defining: people simply knew me as a Buffett fan, and I didn't do much to dissuade people from that notion. I actually, actively fueled the idea, creating the Jimmy Buffett Oracle and putting together the Jimmy Buffett Rite (which, if I did it today, would look very different). Thinking about it, it was sort of strange how much I let that define me, actually: people were more likely to call me a Parrothead than a Discordian or a Druid.
I am in the process of updating the Buffett Oracle to reflect my most recent album acquisitions. . . I have wanted to do that, and clean out some of items I now think of as "non-oracular." I just haven't had the time required to devote to that until recently. At this point, I'm adding a lot of information (song title, album, etc.) and making the page a bit more friendly for mobile devices. I am excited to see how it works out.
I'll have more to say on definitions down the road.
