12:46 pm - An oddity about moonrise
I mentioned the other day about how I am doing moorise prayers at the moment. After just a couple of days, I find myself wondering just where this will go: each lunar month, there's a time from about the third quarter until the new moon where moonrise is in the wee hours of the morning. The moon shifts rising times between 25 minutes and a little over an hour, depending on the phase the moon is in.

I started doing this with the full-ish moon, so I have about another week until the moon starts to creep toward that point of being a little later than I normally stay up anyway, but it took only a couple of days to notice the pattern of this cycle. I have always known that a quarter moon, half moon, and full moon come up at different times, and that those times are somewhat regular, but I had never actually noticed what the difference truly is, or what the standard formula is behind it.

I love it when my religion opens my eyes to the rhythms of nature, even when those rhythms disrupt my sleep schedule a bit.

Sadly, I have commitments here in Lansing. I'm rather busy creating a quality Samhaine/Halloween experience for the family, grove, and community for the next few weeks. Taking on the Annual Halloween Party is a bit of a project. The autumn night sky thing looks really cool though. Have fun!

I was starting to think I might come up for that (since I got a Facebook invite and all), but Maggie has me painting this weekend, so it's unlikely. Which is all for the best, probably: I haven't even started thinking about costumes. . .

Bah! Painting is boring and can keep til November. You and Maggie should both come up and have some fun where you're not in charge of anything. :) Just toss on a sheet ala Charlie Brown!

Maggie is out of town, unfortunately, so she's definitely out. I was thinking about coming up while paint dries, actually; possibly between coats. :)

I guess I could always come as a famous painter. . . but I'm not willing to cut off my ear in the name of good costuming. . . But I will have plenty of drop cloths around that could be turned into wonderful sheet-ghosts. And I do have bondage pants that have chains on them, for the rattling-noises. . .
